SEO Prediction Tools, Predicting Page Rank on Search Engines and Knowing What Keywords to Use
NextStage: Predictive Intelligence, Persuasion Engineering, Interactive Analytics and Behavioral Metrics "You can't make a formula that predicts search engine placement. You can't make an SEO/SEM tool that calculates page rank or determines search engine placement." That's what I was told. And I believed them...Not!.

I really don't know where to go with this post.

Let me start again.

I have no doubt the people I was thinking of when I wrote SEO/SEM and Formulas for Predicting How People Search and Search Engine Placement and SEO/SEM Formulas, Whitehats in Black Clothing and Predicting Search Engine Placement and Outcomes believe what they said when they said you can't make an SEO tool for predicting placement...or that (by default) you can't make a search engine placement tool that assures you some guarantee of page ranking and indexing or a search engine's results page. I honest to god do. Fortunately (and if you're familiar with NextStage's Principles), I know how people communicate and what they're really communicating when they make those kinds of statements.

I've also come to appreciate that very few people think of things the way I do. And I also freely admit I know nothing about Search Engines, search engine optimization, search engine management, buying keywords, indexing formulas, anything like that. I don't know how search engines work. About the only time I use a search engine is when I'm studying something like this.

So how well did this test turn out?

First, my goal was to place above the fold. On my computer screen this means being one of the top six entries on a search engine's results page. I didn't care what number I was out of how many returns, I only cared about showing up before the fold in a search. I conducted the test over two days and used different keywords in the searches.

Knowing nothing about how search engines work, only about how people use language and lingualize their interests and experience, I was able to place above the fold 92% of the time. My searches resulted in #1 placements 50% of the time. Knowing nothing about how search engines work.

To tell you the truth, I was really only thinking I'd get about a 70% success rate in getting above the fold.

I suppose some will take this to mean I either really didn't know what I was doing or failed.

I can also appreciate the reasons why people in the SEO/SEM world make the statements I heard. The formula I use to achieve the search engine placement I did is based on sciences they are (probably) not familiar with (such as Modality Engineering and Calculus of Consciousness, among others).

I think the challenge is that they're not looking at a possible solution -- hence a formula or equation -- from the correct direction (I'm serious). Very often framing a solution correctly makes all the difference in being able to easily calculate a result (something first year physics students know all too well as "The Flying Seagull" problem).

Anyway, let me know if you're interested in learning more about calculating search engine placement, hence guaranteeing an outcome. Right now I have to get back to working with Eric Peterson and coming up with a mathematical model for online engagement.

Toodles.
