Part 1 detailed The Ride North and part 2 covered Au Petit Chateau. Now across the St. Laurent with its sometimes 5m tides, we are at Carnaval.
Did I mention that it had snowed the night before? Or that morning? Or that it was comfortably cold?
Comfortably cold? Yes. For those who don't know, Ville de Quebec is built on a hill (see below for an idea. I describe Quebec City as San Francisco with snow) and goes back as a settlement to long before the advent of Europeans. During our stay we had the opportunity to look into a dig going on. A restoration of the city near the Frontenac (shown here at night) brought up some settlement artifacts from an earlier time in the city. Oh, how I wanted to leap in there and dig.
But I was talking about the cold. I enjoy a good heat and my home is in the cold. Not sure why, exactly, considering my family's Mediterranean origins (Sicilians on one side, Moors on the other with the occasional influx of some stray genetic elements. I can always tell when someone is native to the regions of my ancestors because they will say something like "Carrabis? You're Italian?" Most people hear "Carrabis" and think I have a Grecian origin. Or "You look Moorish" Usually people from Spain will say that about me).
