It turned out I was listening to the coolest band on earth. Temperature wise, at least.
Nunatak is a rock band based out of the British Antarctic Survey's Rothera Research Station. It seems there are several bands based at such remote outposts. I know there use to be several guitar players on the top of Mount Washington, I don't know if they ever formed a band. I also remember wanting to break a banjo over a fellow's head on a deep sea trawler because he only knew one tune and played it over and over and over again.
Nunatak's big splash came about a year ago when they headlined...kind of...Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection. You probably remember them from back then. I missed their debut. Got this wav file, though. Definitely a sound that'll turn you cold.
