I wrote about Client Concerns for 2008 and realized there were a few more than intrigued me only because they come from industries I have no background or training in, so they fascinate me by their novelty.
- Several transportation companies are all concerned about fuel costs and tonnage being down. Shipping is “canary in the mine” for the economy.
- A fast food company's stores send live inventory information to the main headquarters. That system sends processing requests to vendors within an 8 hour drive of the store in need. They respond electronically and a bidding war ensues. The winner of the war gets a PO electronically delivered.
