Successful Search Engine Writing and Searching for the Perfect Search, part 3
NextStage: Predictive Intelligence, Persuasion Engineering, Interactive Analytics and Behavioral Metrics This is Part 3 in the Successful Search Engine Writing arc. I'm exploring a world very familiar to some and a complete mystery to others; getting top ranking in search engine listings. I believe this is also called "high indexing" and am not sure. Perhaps some readers will help clarify this for me.

I've written before that this arc is due to my curiosity. I have no training in SEO/SEM/Search engine technology. I wouldn't suggest you read through these posts as the definitive word in this field. My goal is to come up with some first principles that will lead both myself and others to a deeper understanding of how these things work.

This entry in the arc deals with the post from 9 Oct 07, Radiohead, "In Rainbows" and Democratized Talent and MiniMarkets.

googling%20me%20radiohead%20in%20rainbows%20marketing%2013.jpgI wrote and published that post on 9 Oct 07 and went Googling for it on 10 Oct 07. One of the things to note is that I came late to this story (surprise). My post was published nowhere near the top time-wise.

I scored at #13. This means I was either below the fold or on the 2nd page of a Google search. This intrigues me because this this post was linked to by other bloggers (look for (Mike: 22:00"), specifically ones who pay close attention to Radiohead references in the blogosphere.

Add to my previous notes that searcher's level of interest in the subject plays a role in these things.

As before, the equation grows...
