Science had an interesting little blurb a while back, Shivering With the Sun. "The sun vibrates like a ringing bell." starts the article, and it seems even cell phones vibrate in synchrony with our star.Some people might know that in my free time (free time, Joseph? You have free time?) I study quantum magneto hydro dynamics, QMHD, what others might call "gravitational physics". It's a hobby and something that's fascinated me since I was a child (that we can believe, Joseph, that you read physics books as a child).
This vibration gets from the sun to your cellphones via the solar wind, a kind of energy stream that flows out from the sun. The vibration itself is shown on the surface of the sun in this image (from Science).
Everything, it seems, is connected. We think the internet, web and cellphones have brought us together. Ha. If you'll excuse me, I have a call coming in. I should probably answer it. The caller is about better than 5 billion years old and 93,000,000 miles away.
