Stonewall sent me A library bigger than any building and it was a fascinating read. In the article's own words, "An ambitious project to create an online catalogue of every book in every language ever published is under way. Public goodwill is not in doubt, but some libraries remain to be convinced."
The flaw is that B&M libraries seem a little skeptical. Pity and sad. I'm of that era and age that remembers libraries are depots to imagination and infinity. Before there was day care and once I learned how to read, my parents would drop me off at the library and knew I'd be good for several hours, unaided. I don't think that happens much anymore and for more reasons than the safety of the child.
I also hold this article up against It's Library Time. People just aren't using libraries the way they use to anymore, so why not create a library that can be used the way people are willing to use it?
