I'm on several email lists. One of the most fascinating is comprised of academics, researchers and philosophers from...well, I have no idea how many fields, languages and people are represented on this list. 
Recently one of the folks on this list sent around "Parlasco, province of Lecco, Lombardy, Italy.
"14 painters (Donato Frisia jr., among them) are enriching this small village (more or less 150 inhabitants) with newly created wall paintings. The technique involves a specialized artisan from Bergamo who prepared the supporting surface of each fresco.
July 22nd is the official opening day.

I'm sharing them with you because 1) there's still time to make it to the opening day, 2) this is an example of The Village in action and 3) this is an excellent example of what I wrote about in Why Is It All Local?. Even the high res images he sent me (I know) are not doing this artwork justice.
