We left off Part 6 asking readers a question. Here we provide some answers.
The "Bad Day at Black Rock" chart shown above shows Anxiety Level over time. Snapshots were taken at 1500h on 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 April 2003. US readers should be able to pick one day of particular interest out of that string of days.
The 10th through the 16th of April 2003 cover "Income Tax Weekend", from Thursday, 10 April 03 to Wednesday, 16 Apr 03. What we were witnessing (without realizing it until Susan explained) was the visitor populations' anxiety as they prepared their income taxes, starting Thursday, 1500h 10 Apr 03, spiking Friday, 1500h 11 Apr 03 (our guess is that the visitor population wasn't looking forward to spending a weekend doing their taxes), slightly decreasing Saturday, 1500h 12 Apr 03, continuing to decrease on Sunday and Monday, bottoming out on Tuesday, 1500h 15 Apr 03, and then returning to the normal level on Wednesday, 1500h 16 Apr 03. Knowing how many visitors were coming to all sites in our system, we could make a good guess as to how many people in our visitor population had completed their tax returns and when.
The next post finishes this arc. Guess I'll have to start looking for another, huh?
