Ouch!
Let me share some personal history with you.
Reading is such an important part of my life...it's rare that I don't have five or six books going at once. That doesn't include my research readings, either. I'm talking personal reading, pleasure reading and the like. I know that illiteracy exists and it's painful to me. I routinely offer books we've read to charities and spend time helping folks with their reading skills.
But this...that our education system pretty much puts a checkmark on each child's head, "This one's going to be trouble", is disturbing to me.
