Political Commentary from a New Media Perspective 26 Mar 07, Part 8
NextStage: Predictive Intelligence, Persuasion Engineering, Interactive Analytics and Behavioral Metrics This is part 8 in an arc on NextStage's analysis of various political campaign websites. These analyses are not endorsements of any political party, group, candidate, or whatever. They are just explorations we find fascinating to take now and again. One more segment in this arc, then we go exploring again. Got your tickets ready?

These commentaries won't be a regular thing (at least not right now). NextStage does offer daily political analysis update via subscription. You can find a link to this complete paper at the bottom of this post. We're nearing the final arc. Hope you found this as exciting as we did.

A Summary of the Messages
    1. All of the candidates have a vision for the country.
      2. All of the candidate's numbers for the "I'm Listening" and "I'm Listening to You" messages are low. The first message indicates that the candidate is listening. The second emphasizes that they are listening specifically to you, the individual voter.
        3. Governor Romney projects more strongly than the other candidates that he is Presidential material. This may be because Governor Romney is comfortable with public speaking and campaigning.
          4. Senator Obama's projection of the "I'm Electable" message indicate that he seems unsure right now, he's still testing the waters. Senator Obama is a freshman senator and may be unsure if the public will elect him, thinking they feel he doesn't have the experience necessary.
            5. Only Governor Romney has a very high score for the "They're Not Good People" message. Governor Romney appears as a father figure. The Father is the one who's going to point out who all of the "bad" people are. They're the ones who're going to take care of us.
              6. All of the candidates have a low score on the "This is Important Message". This could be due to none of the candidates knowing which campaign message the public will respond most strongly to at present. However, this message should be stronger if they want the public to take notice of what they have to offer.
                7. Senator Obama is not as sure about whether he can lead us to a better place. This will probably change with experience on the campaign trail.

It will be interesting to note which web sites change and which do not over the months. All sites could be improved to better reach the public and get their individual messages about who they are and what they can do for the country across to the public.
