Detail - BarackObama.com
Barack Obama's web site has changed from Feb. to March 22nd. The numbers and the audience that the web site appeals to, however, do not reflect this change and this is significant. What this means is that the same core message is there regardless of the "wrappings" of that message.
As with the other candidates His website appeals to both men and women fairly equally. His numbers have also been consistent. In this instance the numbers are lower and consistent which may mean that Senator Obama is still testing the waters about being in the campaign.
The site is targeting people who are influenced strongly and make decisions based on pictures and graphs. They tend to become confused when time-factors become relevant to a decision because they have a poor sense of time or involvement. They tend to see things as absolutes, black or white with no shades of grey. They also tend to believe and accept negative statements more easily than positive statements. His audience needs to hear phases such as "They wouldn't make a good president because….", rather than "I would make a good president because…".
This is a tough crowd. They either love you or hate you and there's no middle ground. Senator Obama needs to present ideas to this audience as black or white with no indication how long things will take to get done. If there are time factors stated ("we'll get this done in a year") his audience will become confused. This audience also does not understand what actually has to happen in order for goals to be accomplished. Again, a tough audience. He needs to present who he is, what he's going to do for the country and how, yet he's limited by his audience and what they'll believe.
