So far I've been interviewed twice on regional TV about how the different candidates are using the web, how they could be using the web and how they should be using the web.
Starting in this post, I'm going to be offering occasional commentaries on how politicians are using the web and web-based technologies. This time out, the commentary will be from Susan Carrabis, NextStage's Sr. VP, R&D. At the end of this post you can find a link to the complete paper. I'll also be publishing the complete paper in the next several posts.
NextStage Evolution (NSE) began monitoring political campaign sites in February 07 for the 2008 Presidential campaign cycle. Previous information on the 2004 campaign analysis can be found on the NextStage’s Politics webpage. Details of the website analyses (including methodology) can be found at the end of this paper.
This paper covers comparisons of four candidate’s websites – Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator John McCain, Senator Barack Obama, and Governor Mitt Romney -- from Feb. 10, Mar. 6, and Mar. 22, 2007. The candidates are not presented in any specific order.
The comparisons are based on each site’s ability to project the following messages:
- I’m Presidential Material
- I’m Electable
- I Have a Vision
- I Have a Vision for This Country
- I’m Listening
- I’m Listening to You
- I Can Lead Us to a Better Place
- I Can Lead Us Out of This Problem
- I’m a Good Person
- They’re Not Good People
More to follow.
Please contact NextStage for information regarding presentations and trainings on this and other topics.
