On Jan 29th of this year Apple released a notice announcing an "embarrassing misstep in consumer electronics history". It seems that they would have to recall their entire production run of the Apple iPhone. They discovered that they had failed to include a "phone" feature in the handheld device. Seems to me that when you call a product an iPhone the first feature that the manufacturers should make sure is included is a phone feature. It can do lots of other neat stuff, but then you wouldn't be calling it an iPhone, you'd call it something like iNeatstuff. This is an example of "It will ship and it will be a success" model that some companies follow. Ship it now so that "we" can meet our goals, say we're sorry and that we'll fix the problem. We as consumers accept this model. Why? I don't know.
I love that "It will ship and it will be a success" and have a few examples I'll be sharing in the Thoughts on Building a Business arc in future posts.
