What's the root cause of Mouse Rage Syndrome? It's primarily caused by badly designed and hosted Web sites, according to the research center.
I found this article interesting because knowing when people are getting irritated by a website and explaining how to improve the site is much of what NextStage does. One tool, The NextStage Gauge, is currently in beta (email us know if you're interested in participating in the beta program) and determines visitor stress levels in real time to make its suggestions for improving the site.
Stress is generated by a number of things and bad websites aren't the sole reason for mouse rage. Someone can be having a bad day and a less than optimal website is simply what puts them over the top. NextStage has even encountered time periods where all sites in our inventory were getting low grades. Fortunately our staff sociologist is wiser than I and realized what was causing this. The anecdote is in Chapter 6, "Experience versus Satisfaction" of Reading Virtual Minds, for those with an interest.
