I've posted my comments here and also on Andreas' blog. Readers can read my full response on Andreas' blog. Here we pick up with item 7.
7) Your statement "The discussion should take its start looking more deeply into the fear of information overload and how to secure that information retrieval actually provide the user with the information that's relevant..." goes into something which does concern me and which I've written about in several blog posts, who decides what is relevant information?
In this I think we're aligned.
8) Your statement "will we be able to structure it in an accessible and meaningful way to the user." is a meaningful one. My response deals with my posts on Quorum Sensing, an ongoing dialogue with Brad Berens in How Big Can the Web Get? and several posts on what I call The Village.
Ultimately it comes down to how large an audience constitutes a market, which is a interesting point of discussion if you're willing. I think you allude to it by your "the information overloaded internet will be split up in to smaller, specific nets where one could go for information within a specific area." with your access restriction and pay-per-use being determined by market forces alone.
9) Your comment "Implementing structure takes leadership and rules - not anarchy." is a good one. It reminds me of three of my favorite statements. a) "Chaos, once defined, can be the most organized system there is.", b) "The difference between democracy and chaos is one of degree." and c) "Only systems that hover on the border between order and chaos exhibit the needed general stability and capacity to explore the universe of possible solutions to challenges. - Stuart A. Kauffman".
10) I'm in total agreement with your "I think the challenge for us working as web professionals is to face the challenge, and teach our clients good manners and teach them the importance of well-thought structure and content generation." I strongly believe part of our roles in this society is to be role models of good practices, so thank you for writing that.
Is there room for discussion? I certainly hope so. It helps me to grow.
Thanks for your thoughts. - Joseph
