I mentioned an excellent conversation I had while flying back from the IMedia Agency Summit in Arizona late last year. That conversation dealt with knowing where to place ads on a webpage. Right now there are four basic spots for ad placement. There are sixteen spots total based on what I've read and it pretty much boils down to a basic four. Based on other conversations NextStage is considering the basic four plus one; medium rectangle, rectangle, leaderboard and wide skyscraper are the basic four. We're adding skyscraper.
After about a month and a half of new research and adding that to our existing research, we've come up with a list of questions which, when answered, can be used to determine where an ad should be placed on a webpage.
What we're interested in right now is hearing from folks in the ad placement business. Specifically, how much knowledge of your target audience do you normally have when placing an ad? Do you know their ethnic background? What about if they're risktakers? Do you know their Myers-Briggs type? Please contact NextStage if you'd like to take part in this research, and thanks.
