I'm spending some time catching up on my reading over the holidays and was fortunate enough to discover this posting on Stephane Hamel's WASP tool. I'm sure I don't understand all that this tool is showing me and I do appreciate that it is showing me things companies curious about my browsing habits find valuable.
This is the important part, me thinks; this tool is showing me what other people who are curious about me want to know. They take what WASP is showing me and turn it into money. Most interestingly, they take what WASP is showing me and turn it into money, none of which goes into my pocket.
Okay. This type of thing happens a lot. Every time I use a credit card, bank card, my ATM, pick your plastic, people who I don't know are finding things out about me that I don't know about me.
But this tool lets me know just how much of my online identity and online privacy are going away, which makes this (in my opinion) an interesting tool for anyone curious to know what the price is upon their heads.
