Why are so many pages male oriented? (finale)
NextStage: Predictive Intelligence, Persuasion Engineering, Interactive Analytics and Behavioral MetricsContinuing with a series of posts about gender marketing issues (and which was picked up by Marshall Sponder's Male Oriented Web Pages - Joseph Carrabis post), I'll close out this arc by offering that there's a lot more to determining material gender orientation than most people -- even those in the field -- are aware of. For example, what's more important; Knowing physical gender or neurological gender? Most people know what physical gender is and if you're reading this blog and don't, sit down and talk with your parents because I'm not going to tell you here.
Neurological gender is more involved with how someone thinks, expresses themselves, their preferences and so on. Western culture jokes about the SNAG (Sensitive New Age Guy), but what's being made fun of is that the SNAG is thinking in more traditionally female ways than usual for a male.
Want to market to a SNAG? Better market those male products with a slightly female orientation or they won't sell. Likewise, there are times women make decisions using traditionally male-oriented thought patterns. Want to market to that demographic? Then it's best to know when women add some maleness to their decisions, what's triggering that additional aspect to their thought process and how to use it to your own good, yes? Me thinks so, anyway...

Hello and thanks for your comment. NextStage is constantly updating our research in the area of Gender-Specific Marketing. You can listen to a presentation I gave at the IMedia Agency Summit which addresses these issues. I'll be putting up another post about this later today, 12 Feb 07. Again, thanks for your comment. - Joseph
