This gave me a chuckle and it wasn't at the podcast or Mr. Kaushik or his comment. My chuckle was because there's nothing new under the sun... One of the great things about being in any industry for a while is that you know history will repeat itself and usually in many strange and interesting ways. In this case, early in NextStage's history -- our very first client, in fact -- we would collect data interactively by opening a little browser window, using it to send the data to our server and closing the window. This was in 2001. The client contacted us and said that client's website visitors were calling asking what was going on? There was this little window opening and closing and they didn't like it. What was once considered a no-no is now considered a yes-yes, but not by everyone. Mr. Kaushik had much the same experience as NextStage had even though five years has passed. Visitors didn't like it.
But this isn't the only thing which isn't new under the sun, and that's in my next post...
